Shaker Heights Trike & Bike

Dear Junior Riders of Shaker Heights,

We hope you are all ready to ride! On Saturday, July 14th at Hathaway Brown, we are hosting a Trike & Bike to benefit VeloSano Kids. 1OO% of all dollars raised by Junior Riders aged 3-12 from this ride will directly benefit pediatric cancer research at Cleveland Clinic Children's. That's right- 1OO%!

Here are the details:

WHAT: Shaker Heights Trike & Bike
WHERE: Hathaway Brown School, 19600 N. Park Blvd, Shaker Heights
WHEN: Saturday, July 14th, 8:30-10:30am
WHO: Anyone with a bike ages 3-12 & wants to fight pediatric cancer
PRICE: $15 registration fee; $25 fundraising requirement

We are excited to announce that one of our bravest local heroes, Vivian Zaratsian, will be our rider of honor at this inaugural Bike and Trike event!

Viv was diagnosed with Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia on July 20, 2017 at only 18 months old. Following a tumultuous year filled with 5 months of hospitalization, bone marrow transplant, and multiple challenging complications along the way, Viv is now in remission almost 1 year later.

All of this is possible because of Viv’s strength and resilience, her incredible family and of course her brilliant doctors, nurses, child life specialists and healthcare team. Viv and children like her are the inspiration for this ride. Please join us to cheer her on as she kicks off the ride for us all!

*NOTE* If you are registering multiple children and would like them to be combined into one "family page", please send a brief request to do so to trikeandbike@ccf.org.

Not only do we have two great course offerings planned for that day- a one mile loop that older riders can circle as many times as they can, and a smaller "Tot Lot" loop to encompass all ages, but we have a TON of other activities planned as well for a day filled with fundraising, fitness, and philanthropy.

According to Cleveland Clinic child psychiatrist Dr. Joseph Austermann, children benefit from activities that allow them to give back or help others. They learn empathy, are much less likely to bully, and do better and go further academically.

I hope that you are able to have your children ride, or donate if they cannot. This is truly a worthwhile cause and we hope to see you on July 14th!
