We all know someone whose life has been torn apart by a cancer diagnosis. We sit by and watch our loved ones struggle with fear and worry, wishing there was some way to help them.
VeloSano (www.velosano.org) is more than a bike ride. It was created as a movement to inspire and provide hope to those that receive a cancer diagnosis. We have one goal, and that is to cure cancer. It’s a lofty goal, but we believe it’s achievable. In four years, we have raised over $12.5 million, and have quickly become one of the most successful fundraising events in Northeast Ohio. 100% of the money raised has already been put into use funding cutting-edge cancer research at Cleveland Clinic. VeloSano is special because it gives loved ones an opportunity to join the fight against cancer. When I first heard about the cause, my dad was 5 years into a diagnosis of Stage IV Colon Cancer. Watching him struggle through treatment after treatment, I was looking for some way to show him how much he means to me.
So we started a team in his honor - team “Make it Rain” - and in four short years, our team has grown to 75 riders and raised over $270,000. Dad was able to attend the first 3 VeloSano weekends, and it was his favorite weekend of the year. He stood arm-in-arm with other survivors and saw firsthand what a community of committed people can accomplish.
Unfortunately, he passed away after VeloSano 3 after a long 8-year battle. He fought bravely, and he beat the projections, because of research. And he strongly believed that a cure was coming. Before he passed, he pleaded with me to do more to promote the cause and help other people avoid what happened to him.
Please join us in this fight.
Our success in pursuit of our goal of curing cancer is dependent upon the support we receive from those that wish to join the fight. Please consider joining as a rider or attending one of our fundraising events. For more information visit our facebook page at www.facebook.com/vsmakeitrain
