I'm back at it! Once again this year--this upcoming weekend, in fact—Ray and I will participate in the VeloSano ride in Cleveland. And, this year Alana is making her VeloSano rider debut via bike trailer!
VeloSano, or "swift cure," is an annual fundraising event that supports lifesaving cancer research at Cleveland Clinic. The goal is to bring sustainable funding to cancer research by enlisting the passion and energy of thousands of people who wish to give back…including YOU!
I love cycling and I hate cancer, and I have enjoyed this event so much the last two years and was so proud of my fundraising I'm back again!
So let’s review: the first year, I signed up to ride 100 miles and one month before the ride discovered Ray and I were expecting Alana. So, at just over eight weeks pregnant, I scaled back to 50 miles. Last year, Ray hung back with Alana and I signed up to only do 50...but our little bundle of joy was not very forgiving in terms of allowing me time to train, so I scaled back to 25 miles. This year, I got smart and signed up for the 12-mile ride, mainly so Alana could participate. I'm definitely going in the wrong direction with mileage!
Regardless, I do this for the cause and the camaraderie. Fighting cancer has become personal to my family and me, and I know it's personally affected many of my close friends. We are making progress in this fight but we can’t stop until it’s eradicated.
So I ask if you are able, please help Ray and me reach our goal! Every dollar you donate is tax deductible. If your employer has a matching gift program, be sure to submit your donation to double your dollars donated! Every single cent goes to research.
Thank you for your support of our VeloSano fundraising campaign--and more importantly, thank you for helping to make this an epidemic our kids hopefully will never know as adults!
