I love cycling, all 366 days outside in NE Ohio in 2016 covering 18,578 miles. Unfortunately, on April 11, 2017 I was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer, a 2.5 cm bi-lobed mass underneath the left nipple with metastasis to axillary lymph nodes. Wow! I've continued cycling (it keeps me sane) and plan to complete the VeloSano 4 two-day 200+ mile ultimate challenge. I'm in very good hands at the new Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center. Onocologist Dr. Jame Abraham, currently has me undergoing neoadjuvant endocrine therapy taking 20 mg of Tamoxifen daily. After VeloSano, in September, surgeons Dr. Stephen Grobmyer and Dr. Risal Djohan will perform a left breast mastectomy and lymph node venous bypass, respectively. Yes, this cancer stuff is real! The bottom line is that cancer research leads to new treatments and more cures. VeloSano is more than a bike ride, it’s a fundraiser. 100% of every dollar raised is applied to cancer research.

Special thanks to Mike Kattan, Caroline El Sanadi, Hudson Velo and the entire NE Ohio cycling community.
