Anyone who visits their doctor and receives a diagnosis of some form of Cancer generally goes into a state of shock!!! That is becuase Cancer is a disease often associated with severe illness or death. Our family had such a shocking experience. You probably already know our story but if not, the abbreviated version goes like this: Our son Aaron was diagnosed with Type ALL Leukemia at age 21. Even with chemotherapy and radiation his cancer went from bad to worse. He was given single digit odds for survival. A bone marrow transplant from his little brother coupled with the great doctors at the Cleveland Clinic and of course the grace of G-d saved his life. Aaron graduated from the Lerner School of Medicine and is now a cancer doctor himself at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC! The story gets even better. Aaron is now 15 years cancer free (YAY!!!!) and he and his wife Aly have blessed us with a beautiful granddaughter – Lilah Bea. This year's ride is dedicated to her.
While we were blessed with a happy ending, cancer often takes the lives of our loved ones. It seems that cancer sooner or later touches every family. Sadly today we associate cancer with suffering and death. This path must be changed! Cures for cancer will come thru research and of course research requires funding.
Normally you associate me with bikes as in motorcycles. On July 21, I will be riding the other kind of bike – the pedal kind of bike. I will be riding in the Velosano designed to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. 2016 was my first year for pariticpation in Velosano. I rode in the 25 mile event. Last year I did the 50 mile event. As of January of 2018 I threw the guantlet down!!!!! I started training 5 days per week on my indoor trainer with an interval training program called TrainerRoad with the motivation of pushin' these 61 year old legs for the 75 mile event! It would be a great honor to have you sponsor me on this ride to support cancer research. Best of all, 100% of your donation will be used for cancer research at the Cleveland Clinic ( no overhead costs!). Please join me in finding a cure for cancer thru research. Wow that bike seat is small and yes, I have an aching sitbone as I train for this ride but it’s all for a good cause.
This is where you come in!
Ok, now it's time for you to take a bold move! Real bold!!! Click on the green button on the top right corner of this page and make a donation to help fund cancer research. There is only one way to stop cancer and that is thru new, innovative research. The research funded from the proceeds of this event could have a profound positive effect on the health of your family, friends, and loved ones. ALL DONATIONS ARE APPRECIATED. No donation is too small or too large. It will bring me strength in the ride knowing that my family and friends are supporting me. You can also support by cheering on the route, purchasing and wearing Velosano merchandise, ringing the Velosano cowbell, or sending a text or email of encouragement. Maybe an apre ride backrub?
Thank you in advance for you kindness and consideration.
END CANCER! WE CAN DO THIS!!!!
