Getting Hearing Aids to Kids in Need

Last year, we launched an effort to honor our beautiful daughter, Elle, who was diagnosed with unilateral hearing loss in 2012. When she got her first hearing aid and she could hear sounds we all take for granted, Elle was beaming. We knew we had to help others experience the same joy that Elle did. Unfortunately, there is a stigma that hearing loss isn't as detrimental as sight loss or other illnesses. We know this is not the case; every child should be able to hear to get the most out of school and to experience life fully.

Your kindness and generosity helped us raise $3,205 last year to fund a Pediatric Hearing Aid Loaner Program at the Clinic to ensure no needy child goes without the technology they need to hear. The Program opens their world to the sounds around them by providing loaner hearing aids while they're waiting for: a cochlear implant, state assistance to purchase a hearing aid, or while a family saves money to purchase one on their own.

You can read more about our fundraising effort here: http://my.clevelandclinic.org/giving/news-events/publications/catalyst_e_news/archive/2013/september-hearing.aspx

Our lives changed when we found out Elle has permanent hearing loss. But there have been many blessings as well -- teaching Elle that it feels good to help others and discovering how much love and support we have in this world are just two.

Won't You Help Us?

We are so grateful for the care Elle receives at Cleveland Clinic Children's. This year, we want to raise double what we raised last year. Won't you help us? Share this link with your friends and family and through social media. No donation is too small to make an impact. We met our goal last year $10 at a time.
