Ride Across America - Steve Pachan
Dear Friends, Family, Former Co-Workers and Clients,
I am supporting Cleveland Clinic because of the great work they do in putting patients first, and because of the research they conduct to prevent and cure diseases. I feel passionately about Cleveland Clinic because of the miracles that take place there every day, and invite you to join me in supporting this world-renowned institution.
My working career has ended, however my drive to keep active has not. A bicycle ride across America has always been a personal goal of mine. My love of bicycling stated at an early age and has continued throughout my adult life. In the past I have completed 11 MS Pedal to the Point rides, 2 Great Ohio Bicycle Adventures, a couple of triathlons and commuted to work for a number of years. My last job was not bicycle friendly so I took a hiatus from riding. Now retired I am enjoying riding and have been training to complete a bicycle ride starting Oct.1, 2017 from San Diego, CA. to St. Augustine, Fl. Ending on Nov.15, 2017.
I decided to make the ride into a fund raiser for colon cancer research conducted at the Cleveland Clinic. Colon cancer runs in my family. All but one of my siblings carry the MLH1 mutation (Lynch Syndrome) with the following family history of the disease: Grandparents on my father side passed away from the disease, my father and younger brother both passed from colon cancer, my oldest brother and youngest brother are survivors of the disease. I have had polyps removed and am required to undergo a colonoscopy annually to insure I stay cancer free. My goal for this ride is to raise money for research efforts at the clinic, but most importantly to encourage everyone to get checked because if caught early the disease is curable.
I appreciate all donations to the cause and request that you pass this information along to others to consider donating to the cause.
One idea can create a cure. One caregiver can change countless lives. And one gift can make a difference. The Power of Every One is the power of shared vision, generosity and effort.
Please join me so together we can help support Cleveland Clinic and the Sanford R. Weiss, MD Center For Hereditary Colorectal Neoplasia.
