The Bernstein Family Fund for IBD at Cleveland Clinic
As many of you know, our daughter, Dana, was diagnosed with advanced Crohn’s Disease – an autoimmune deficiency that attacks the digestive system – when she was just 3 years old. Now 25, Dana has since endured several life-threatening surgeries and drug treatments – and many lifetimes’ worth of hardship – as a result of this debilitating disease. Every day is a challenge for her.
When we visited Cleveland Clinic to meet with Feza Remzi, MD, Chairman of the Department of Colorectal Surgery, we were immediately impressed by the facility, the team approach – giving Dana access to any doctor at any time – and, most importantly, Dr. Remzi’s compassion for Dana and understanding of this complex disease.
The Cleveland Clinic is a worlwide leader in the field of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) treatment and research. Our family recently hosted an event featuring Dr. Remzi, Chairman of Colorecal Surgery and Dr. John Fung, Chairman of the Clinic's Digestive Disease Institute. Our goal was to ignite support for their vision for establishing a national Center for Excellence in IBD which will serve as a model for centers across the country.
We truly believe this research has the potential to change the face of Crohn’s Disease and to prevent other young people from going through the struggles that Dana faces every second of every day. Your support will help Dr. Remzi achieve his dream: to create better lives for all those diagnosed with these debilitating diseases.
If you were unable to attend or would like to support this work, we ask that you consider making a donation to the fund our family recently established at Cleveland Clinic - The Bernstein Family Fund for IBD. We truly appreciate your support!
